Building Community Through Our Dementia Café in Upton

Yesterday, AshwellCare proudly hosted our second Dementia Café in Upton and it was another truly uplifting session that highlighted the power of connection, understanding and community support.

The room was filled with warm conversation, shared smiles and meaningful moments. These are the simple but powerful experiences that make a real difference for people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers. Creating a safe, welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable and valued is at the heart of what our Dementia Café aims to achieve.

This important initiative is led by Deb Ashwell from Ashwell Home Care, working in partnership with Dan from the Worcester Warriors Foundation. Together, we share a strong commitment to inclusion, dignity and building supportive local communities. These values shape everything we do and continue to guide the growth of the Dementia Café.

We were also delighted to welcome two local councillors who joined us to learn more about the Dementia Café and to see first hand the positive impact it is already having within the local area. Their visit reinforced the importance of community led initiatives that support people affected by dementia.

A sincere thank you goes to the Worcester Warriors Foundation for their ongoing partnership and support. We are also extremely grateful to Upton Rugby Club for continuing to host the Dementia Café and for providing such a warm, friendly and accessible venue.

We are incredibly proud of how the Dementia Café is growing and the sense of belonging it is creating. We look forward to continuing this journey with our community and expanding support for those living with dementia across Worcestershire.
