A Morning That Reinforced the Kind of Team We Want to Build

Some days make you stop and really think about the kind of organisation you are building.

Today was one of those days.

We spent the morning at the INclusive Worcestershire Leaders Forum, and it gave us the chance to step back from the day to day and reflect on something that matters deeply to us.

Our people.

From the moment we arrived, there was a real sense of openness in the room. Honest conversations. Different perspectives. A shared willingness to learn and do better. It felt less like an event and more like a community of people who genuinely care.

It Is the Small Things That Matter

There was a strong focus on reasonable adjustments and how workplaces can better support individuals to thrive.

But what really stayed with us was this. Inclusion is not about big statements or policies. It is about the small everyday moments:

  • Taking the time to listen
  • Being open to doing things differently
  • Creating an environment where people feel safe to be themselves

Those small things build confidence. And confidence changes everything.

What This Means for Our Team

In care, we often talk about supporting the people we look after. But today was a reminder that the same mindset has to apply to the people who work with us.

If we want to deliver truly outstanding care, we need to create a workplace where our team feel:

  • Respected
  • Supported
  • Trusted
  • Able to grow

That means:

  • Being fair in how we treat people
  • Open in how we communicate
  • Caring in how we support each other
  • Ambitious in helping people develop
  • Confident enough to adapt
  • Trusting people as individuals

Not as a list on a wall, but as something people feel when they work here.

Why This Matters

When people feel valued, they stay

When they feel supported, they grow

And when they grow, the quality of care improves naturally.

That is the kind of team we are building at AshwellCare.

Not just a workforce, but a group of people who feel part of something.

Looking Ahead

We left the forum feeling proud to be part of a wider group of organisations across Worcestershire who are committed to doing better.

But more importantly, it reinforced the direction we are already on:

  • Building a workplace where people feel they belong
  • Where their voice matters
  • Where they can do meaningful work with confidence

If that sounds like the kind of environment you would want to be part of, we would love to hear from you!

Because great care starts with great people.
